Faculty Positions, Postdoctoral Fellowships, Oversea PhD Student Positions at the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Peking University


The Department of Computer Sciences and Technology (http:/English/Home.htm) of Peking University was established in 1978. Within the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, the Department of Computer Science and Technology includes five internationally known research institutions: Institute of Digital Media, Institute of Computational Linguistics, Institute of Software, Institute of Computer Networks and Information Systems, and Institute of Computer Architecture.


According to the 2019 QS World University Rankings by Subject, Peking University is ranked the 18th around the world in the Subject of “Computer Science and Information Systems”. According to CSRankings, a metrics-based ranking of top computer science institutions around the world, Peking University is ranked within top 2 around the world in the research areas of Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, and Software Engineering, respectively.


The currently 108 faculty members and more than 1,500 students from the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Peking University are conducting cutting-ledge research in various research areas, such as software engineering, information security, human-computer interaction and multimedia, natural language processing, database, data mining, cloud computing, mobile computing, microprocessor, digital audio and video coding, multimedia communications, computer reconfigurable logic CECARL, non-volatile memory technology, 3D chip technology, hardware architecture for energy efficient wireless LAN, and energy-efficient applications.


The Department of Computer Science and Technology of Peking University is recruiting new faculty, postdoctoral fellows, oversea PhD students from all areas in computing to join the department, welcoming


•faculty applicants around the world with outstanding research records to apply for tenure-track/tenured faculty positions at the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Peking University (see below for detailed instructions of application);


•highly-qualified researchers around the world who received their PhD within the past three year to apply for the Peking University Boya Postdoctoral Fellowship (see http:/English/Open_Position/Postdoc.htm for detailed instructions);


•promising International Elite PhD Program applicants (non-Chinese citizens) around the world to apply for a newly-established special oversea PhD program at the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Peking University (see http:/English/Admission/Graduate.htm for detailed instructions, with the application deadline for Fall 2020 enrollment as December 20, 2019).


The faculty applicants selected for on-site interview will be invited to attend the Second Youth Forumon the Next Generation Computer Sciences hosted by theDepartment of Computer Science and Technology of PekingUniversity, Beijing, China from December 20th-22th, 2019.This forum will serve as an exciting opportunity for the young scholars to exchange academic ideas and latest innovations on computing. Travel grants are available to support the selected faculty applicants to attend the forum, including round-trip travel to Peking University, hotel accommodations during the forum, and free forum registration.
